Germany installs 155 MW of PV in July

2017/9/1 9:28:43

Around 154.6 MW of new PV systems were connected to the grid in Germany in July, according to grid operator Bundesnetzagentur. This was slightly down from the two previous months, when over 200 MW of new PV capacity was installed, respectively. Despite this drop, demand for small-sized PV installations remains high.

The Bundesnetzagentur reports that around 139.3 MW of new installations were registered in this segment, an increase of around 500 PV systems compared to June, when the newly installed capacity was 91.7 MW.

Furthermore, the Bundesnetzagentur reports that 32 installations with a capacity of up to 750 kW, which can be installed outside the auction scheme for large-scale solar, were registered in July.

As for the projects ranging in size from 750 kW to 10 MW selected through the auction mechanism, the Bundesnetzagentur reported only 6.5 MW of new capacity for July. On the top of this, the grid operator registered 12 new ground-mount PV plants not exceeding 750 kW, totaling 15.3 MW in July.

The new additions for the first seven months of 2017 have reached 1,050 MW, a growth of around 75% compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the country’s cumulative installed capacity had reached 42.16 GW at the end of July.
